One of the things that has always bugged me about my jailbroken iPhone is that it isn't as responsive as it used to be. I thought about it for a while and realized that the iPhone is running on a Max OSX operating system and that operating systems, for the most part, use virtual memory in addition to RAM to run programs.

After a little research (and lots of backing up of data on my phone) I found a solution that seems to work. In reality it's a multi-part solution that involves manipulating the virtual memory in the phone to allow nearly 80MB of memory versus 30MB and removing some of the services that the phone doesn't really need.

Instructions for first part (the virtual memory hack) can be read here: (Please note that I found these instructions and did not write them. Also, I'm not responsible for anything that may or may not happen to your phone. Use this guide at your own risk.)

Mario Kart Drinking Game

The following are basic instructions for using the Game Cube version of Mario Kart as a drinking game. These instructions are generally suited for there to be more non-driving participants than driving participants so that there is a chance for driver rotation. After each race, each driver will rotate out so that a non-driving member may become a driver for one race.

Drink Values:

· If a driver gets hit with any of the following then the non-driving participants have to drink:

Green Shell:
1 drink
Red Shell: 1 drink
Banana: 1 drink
Star Powered Opponent: 2 drinks
Blue Shell: 2 drinks
Lightning: 2 drinks

· If the driver gets hit with any “Special” attacks the non-driving participants take 2 drinks. Special attacks include any attack that is specific to a character or team unless the attacking driver is using King Boo or Petey Piranha in which case they can use any special and drinks will be assigned according to normal “Special” attack rules.

· If there is any environmental interference the non-driving participants take 1 drink. Environmental interferences include:

Twisters
Sand Pits
Fire Balls in castle levels
Falling off the edge of the track so that Lakitu has to retrieve you.

· If the driver is able to steal an item from a computer racer, then the driver gets to assign 1 drink.

· If the driver is able to successfully stop an attacking Red Shell by shooting it with a Green Shell, the driver gets to assign 1 drink.

· If the driver finishes in first place at the end of a race, the driver gets to assign 2 drinks. The drinks may be to one person or may be split between 2 people.

· If the driver finishes in a position worse than 5th place, the driver must take 2 drinks.

Teams may be formed so that each non-driving participant only drinks for the events that take place to a particular driver instead of drinking for each event that occurs for all drivers.

1336 PDF Print E-mail

September 11, 2001 was a tragic day no doubt. It had an impact on everyone. 1336 people died that day when 2 hijacked airplanes flew into the World Trade Center buildings.

I remember that I was in Fort Benning, Georgia in the infirmary with a fever of 102 degrees when the newsflash came on the television. It was a surreal moment that left all the ill basic trainees speachless. We were instructed not to speak of these events to anyone when we got back to our units until the big address was made to everyone.

The news stations played and replayed the scenes of the airplanes hitting the towers and people jumping from windows high above the ground until we felt like we were watching a bad rerun of a movie that we didn't want to watch again. Seeing the scene over and over again took the human element from it.

For years yellow ribbons were worn as a sign of hope as women waited from their men to come marching home from war. Today, they are still used to welcome home loved ones.

I understand that part of the people support the war and part of the people are against it. It's how the world works. We need both groups of people in order to maintain some sort of balance to the country and keep us from looking like we just want to kill anyone who doesn't agree with us. So we can look like we are only going to war to defend ourselves even though we don't want to. When, in fact, there are those who really do want to just kill those who disagree with us. But that isn't my point.

My point is that 9/11 happened more than 6 years ago and people are still so hung up on it that we can't go anywhere without being reminded of it. We as a society are completely unable to move on from a single tragedy. What is wrong with this picture? There are countries, societies, cultures or whatever that have events like the WTC happen every day.

1336 people died the day that the WTC was attacked. According to the Irac Coalition Casualties site 3823 United States Soldies have been confimed dead and 27753 have been confirmed injured by the Department of Defense.

5159 people have died because of one event that happened 6 years 1 month and 3 days ago. Do the deaths of 3823 people bring back the 1336 people that died that day?
